Ray McKinnon
RANDY AND THE MOB, from Capricorn Pictures, is a sly, clever, slice-of-life Southern comedy from Academy Award-winning writer-director Ray McKinnon. McKinnon is originally from Adel, GA and worked in theatre in Atlanta for years. The film stars McKinnon, Walton Goggins (of The Shield, originally from Lithia Springs), and Lisa Blount (the triumverate that also produced) and is distributed by Capricorn Pictures, an off-shoot of the seminal southern rock label, Capricorn Records. McKinnon, Goggins and Blount won an Academy Award for Best Short for their first film, THE ACCOUNTANT.

RANDY AND THE MOB is the story of small town good ‘ol boy Randy Pearson (Ray McKinnon) who can’t seem to keep from getting in over his head. When he finds himself unable to make good on a debt to some low-level Italian mobsters, Randy knows he needs to step up to the plate and save his wobbly empire from ruin. Things aren’t so good on the home front, either. His baton-teaching wife (Lisa Blount) was recently diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome, most likely a career-killer. The only successful man in the family is his estranged gay twin brother Cecil (also played by McKinnon), who runs a local antiques business, but he’s the last person Randy wants to go to for help. But then a mysterious mob enforcer named Tino Armani (The Shield’s Walton Goggins) shows up. Most definitely the weirdest guy to ever hit town, with a knack for Italian cooking, clogging, and illuminating insights that Randy would rather live without, Tino just might lead Randy down the road to salvation.

"Randy and the Mob" comes out in limited release in Georgia.
Winner of the Audience Award for Best Feature at the 2007 Nashville Film Festival, RANDY AND THE MOB is a warm, wry and comic celebration of Southern roots, where love and family trump all differences and adversities…usually.
