Help Save Water
sponsored content
The City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management was created by Mayor Shirley Franklin in September 2003 to bring “all things water” (drinking water, sewer, stormwater) under one operational umbrella. The Department is responsible for treating water from the Chattahoochee River for drinking and for treating wastewater to state and federal standards for return to the river. Its two water treatment plants and four wastewater treatment plants routinely exceed all standards. The Department is in the midst of a $3.9 billion overhaul of the City’s long-neglected water and sewer infrastructure.
